“I am personal friends with several luthiers of traditional instruments (Didgeridoos, nGoni, Tambores Xamânicos) and meeting and visiting Candido in his workshop was adding to that list someone who also takes his work very seriously, in a personal and emotional dedication to the materials, the process and the recipient of the instrument. When I saw that Cândido mixed his own wood varnishes, I realized even more how special his art is.
Even though it wasn’t made “for me”, I chose to keep a Weissenborn that was ready and I couldn’t resist… and I loved the shape of the guitar, which is also a bit reminiscent of “our” Portuguese guitar.”
